Burlington cafe has European flavor

Veronico’s Cafe is located in Burlington across the street from the library on 336 N. Pine St.
Opened around 2002, Veronico’s is a little taste of Europe right here in the USA. Maria Veronico of Burlington is the owner with two partners, and uses old family recipes from Italy in this delightful little cafe.
A handsome brick interior and architectural components salvaged from the old St. Catherine’s Hospital with personal collections from family and local artists’ work create a warm ambiance. Once inside, one realizes this is special and reminiscent of a nice New York or Chicago bistro-style cafe. Maria hand-picked windows, window frames, and copper downspouts from the hospital to decorate the interior in an Italian Tuscan style.
The cafe features great, rich brewed coffee, cappuccino and flavored lattes such as Pumpkin Spice and Italian Chocolate. Their rich coffee is really good and probably the best around.
Veronico’s has breakfast specials daily. On the menu, the Breakfast Bowl is made for a hungry gladiator. It is chock full of eggs, potatoes, and cheeses and meats of your choice. For lunch, there are also daily specials and menu items, including build-your-own sandwiches on your choice of bread, with many vegetable and meat options. A couple of dozen tasty wraps are available on a platter with soup, salad, or chips.
Soups are all homemade from scratch — no bag soups here! Homemade focaccia bread is served at all times as well as homemade cookies, breads and scones. The salads are also delicious and hearty, such as the avocado salad with spring mix or spinach. Salad dressings are all made in-house.
On Friday and Saturday, guest Chef Seth Roth, the former Oprah Winfrey corporate chef, makes great tasty and colorful creative dinners. Linens are put out with candles for one of the most romantic restaurants in the region. Reservations are recommended for dinner.
When the weather warms up the cafe serves customers outside, European-bistro style.
